San Antonio Community Wind Ensemble (SACWE)
Established in 2016, the San Antonio Community Wind Ensemble (SACWE) is one of South Texas' premier volunteer concert bands and the flagship ensemble of the San Antonio Performing Arts Alliance. The ensemble is committed to artistic excellence, community engagement, and providing exceptional musical experiences through free public performances.
SACWE presents five concerts each season, featuring a diverse repertoire that includes advanced wind band masterworks, contemporary compositions, major orchestral transcriptions as well as works by local and student composers. Each program is thoughtfully designed to challenge its musicians while inspiring audiences with music that showcases the artistry and versatility of the modern wind ensemble.
The ensemble is proudly deliberately diverse and fully inclusive, bringing together musicians from all walks of life who share a passion for making music at the highest level. Membership includes college students, band directors, music educators, professional musicians, active-duty and retired military personnel, and dedicated community musicians from throughout the San Antonio area. This unique blend of talent and experience creates an environment where musicians continue to grow while building lasting friendships through a shared commitment to artistic excellence.
In addition to its concert season, SACWE is dedicated to strengthening the cultural life of South Texas through educational outreach, community partnerships, and accessible performances. By presenting all concerts free of charge, the ensemble strives to ensure that outstanding live music is available to everyone while inspiring the next generation of musicians and music lovers. SACWE is a proud member of the Association of Concert Bands (ACB) and the Greater San Antonio Community Bands Association (GSACBA).
